Iceland's Fantastic Light

Apart from the unique landscape, the light in Iceland is the first thing you’ll notice. From mid-May to mid-August the sun only sets for around 3 hours a day, and it is effectively light for the whole 24-hour period. In mid winter, there are around 5 hours of effective daylight. Early spring and late autumn enjoy long periods of lingering twilight adding drama to the atmosphere.

The white nights of summer and frequent Northern Lights during winter, enhance the unearthly appeal of the scenery. While benefitting from the dramatic light of its northern latitude Iceland enjoys a surprisingly mild climate.
