Risk free filming in Iceland
Iceland is one of only 9 countries in the world categorized as "low risk" for filming according to the detailed map "2005 Risks in Global Filmmaking", published by Aon - Albert G. Ruben insurance and risk management services.
The "2005 Risks in Global Filmmaking" maps risks for filmmaking according to five categories: Crime, organized crime and corruption, kidnap and ransom, disease risk and medical care risk. Special attention is given to political risks in key countries and top ten terrorist incident locations are listed. Iceland does not pose a risk in any of these categories. Only Iceland, Greenland, The Scandinavian countries, Canada, Switzerland and New Zealand get this ranking.
The publisher of the map is Aon/Albert G. Ruben Insurance Services Inc. Albert G. Ruben has played a leading role in Hollywood and elsewhere for more than four decades, providing risk management consulting services to 77 percent of the 100 films selected by the American Film Institute as the greatest movies ever made since 1960. Clients of Aon/Albert G. Ruben include most major film studios and an impressive roster of the independent film community. In addition, Aon/Albert G. Ruben solves risk-related challenges for more than 70 percent of American prime-time television shows. 20 of the films nominated for an Oscar in 2004 were insured through Aon/Albert G. Ruben, including The Aviator, Million Dollar Baby, Troy and The Passion of the Crhist.
According to the corporate website www.aon.com/albertgruben, the company focuses on minimizing risk for the entertainment industry without sacrificing creativity. Fines, media scrutiny and the human cost of accidents in feature and television production can cost the production company thousands and even millions of dollars. By identifying potential hazards and taking risk control steps to reduce the risk of loss, the production companies can not only reduce the risk to lives and property, but also help protect their insurance profile.
