Scenes for the fifth Batman movie will be filmed in a few weeks' time in the glacial landscape of South-east Iceland, close to the iceberg-filled lagoon of Jökulsárlón, where Die Another Day was also filmed.

The project is expected to be as extensive as the James Bond shooting two years ago. Sagafilm, an Icelandic film production company, is working on the project and has already begun to construct the set.

Christopher Nolan (Memento) will be directing the new Batman movie, based on Bob Kane's comics about the Dark Knight. Christian Bale (American Psycho) will play the role of Bruce Wayne / Batman, and the British actor Michael Caine the part of Alfred. The production is scheduled for release in the summer of 2005.
